CARDS

A standard deck of 52 cards is used. Wild cards are often used such as Twos, Threes, or Jokers (when they're added to the deck). The wild cards ranking from highest to lowest are Joker, Three, Two. These wild cards are ranked higher than all other cards. The remaining cards ranking from highest to lowest are Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, etc. Wild cards can be used for sets in place of other non-wild cards. For example, laying two 6's and a Joker is equivalent to laying three 6's. The wild cards can also be used on their own as high cards. For example, two Jokers will beat two Aces.

PLAY

The entire deck of cards is dealt out to 4 players. The object of the game is to play all your cards before anyone else. A player can lead any set of cards from their hand, as long as they have matching numbers. The next player moving clockwise must lay the same number of cards with matching numbers, but the number must be higher than the previous play. For example, the lead player may lead two 4's and the next player may play two 5's. If a player does not have the required cards or does not want to play they have the option to pass any time. The player who lays the highest cards and wins the trick leads the next trick. The first person to play all cards in their hand is called the President. The second, third and fourth players to finish are called the Vice-President, Secretary and Janitor respectively.

EXCHANGING CARDS

The first round is played without exchanging cards. After the first round the ranks are established. In the following round, the President must give any 2 cards to the Janitor. The Janitor must give the 2 highest cards to the President. The Vice-President must give any card to the Secretary. The Secretary must give the highest card to the Vice-President. Once you're on the bottom it's hard to get up from the bottom!

SCORING

  • The first player to reach 20 points wins the game.
  • If you finish the round as President you receive 3 points.
  • If you finish the round as Vice-President you receive 2 points.
  • If you finish the round as Secretary you receive 1 point.
  • If you finish the round as Janitor you receive 0 points.

    OPTIONS

Lead - The player who leads the round is customizable. The Rotate option chooses the next lead player going clockwise around the table. The Rank 1 option forces the President to lead. The Rank 4 option allows the Janitor to lead first.

One play per trick - When this option is checked each player can only play once for each trick, otherwise the trick continues in a clockwise direction until a player lays cards that all other players pass on.

Joker beats all cards - When this option is checked a single Joker can beat any number of cards of any rank. For example, 1 Joker can beat 4 Aces. If this option is not checked then a player would need 4 wild cards to beat 4 Aces.
